December Recap

In addition to exhibiting at three trade shows, Pulsara's SVP - Med Ops, Brandon Means, presented the session, 'Emergency Operations that Scale: Redefining How We Communicate.' at the IAEM Annual Conference & EMEX.

What has Team Pulsara been up to in 2024? Take a look below at our annual Year in Review.

Celebrating Customer Successes

  • Dr. John Hick interviewed Eric Epley, Executive Director/CEO of the Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council, for the article "The Evolution of Patient Load Balancing: The Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council," which was published in a newsletter by ASPR TRACIE. In the article, Eric Epley discussed how Pulsara has been used to streamline communications and help facilitate inter-facility transfers.
  • Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer, AK, presented a poster during the ACC Quality Summit. The research showcased Mat-Su's 37% reduction in time from when "EMS obtains a STEMI positive electrocardiogram to when the cath lab and cardiology team is activated" using Pulsara.
  • Sometimes accidents happen, even at the North Pole. That's why, despite the hustle and bustle of preparing for the big day, crews with the North Pole Fire Department are implementing Pulsara so even they can improve communication around patient care.

Case Studies

  • Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services paired a new protocol with Pulsara to transport eligible pediatric behavioral health patients directly to behavioral health facilities, resulting in a 44% decrease in the number of pediatric behavioral health patients transported to the ED.

  • Baptist Health Medical Center - North Little Rock needed a better way to communicate about incoming stroke patients or transfer an LVO patient to their sister facility. After implementing Pulsara, Baptist Health reduced their average door-in-door-out for transfer by 42% and streamlined their transfer process.

Pulsara In the News

  • Pulsara has been involved with numerous incident preparedness drills across the United States, but none quite like this. We had the opportunity to participate in Texas A&M's Disaster Day, a student-led exercise that included a tropical storm, flooding, an earthquake, and active shooter simulations. Eight Pulsara team members joined students at various locations throughout the drill, giving them a quick rundown of how to use the Incident & Event Management functionality to triage and track around 300 patients, document treatments, and order and deliver meds from the field pharmacy.

  • Pulsara customers in Texas, Colorado, and Scotland were featured in the news for the cutting-edge treatments they provide and the innovative ways they use Pulsara.

    • In Dallas-Forth Worth, TX, North Richland Hills Fire Department is pairing barcoded patient wristbands with Pulsara to track patient movement and decrease the time it takes to get patients to definitive treatment.
    • Colorado Springs Fire Department in Colorado Springs, CO, began using wristbands every day for every patient, practicing the same protocol that will be used the next time they face a crisis.
    • During an interview for Endovascular Today, Dr. Iris Grunwald, MD, Professor and Chair of Neuroradiology at the University of Dundee, Scotland, mentioned how Pulsara, paired with their AI imaging software, has "led to significant time savings and minimized communication errors."
  • Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization in Watertown, NY, was highlighted for implementing Pulsara to streamline communications and improve patient care across seven hospitals and 63 EMS agencies.
  • Clark County EMS Medical Director Marlow Macht, M.D., MPH, spoke to the Clark County News about Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center's expanded cardiac services and how Pulsara "streamlines and accelerates care for heart attack or stroke patients."

New Integrations Improve Patient Care

    • The Pulsara + Digitech TripTix ePCR integration simplifies ePCR documentation and facilitates real-time collaborative access to critical patient data.
    • In a recent video, Mach Hutchinson, Clinical Manager at Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services (yes, the very MEMS that pioneered a new way to care for pediatric behavioral health patients), shared how the ESO and Pulsara integration helps EMS teams in Arkansas stay focused on patients. Published works with EMS1 and FireRescue1

  • We're proud to continue sponsoring the What Paramedics Want trend survey. Produced in collaboration between EMS1, Fitch & Associates, and the National EMS Management Association, the What Paramedics Want eBook includes strategies to improve paramedic safety, wellness, career development, and operations.
