FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BOZEMAN, MT -- May 16, 2018 -- Yesterday, Pulsara was featured in local Des Moines area news, as all metro hospitals there are now using the platform to communicate around their time sensitive emergencies.
According to the news clip, the teams using it are thrilled with Pulsara's ability to reduce time to treatment for emergencies like STEMI and stroke.
The feature also quoted Jill Heilskov, director of emergency services at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, who said the app puts an end to the "tricky game of telephone." In the news clip, Heilskov said: "Normally, we were having to make multiple phone calls back and forth to let people know, ‘Are you ready? Are you here? Is the cath-lab team ready?' Now, everybody knows at the same time."
EMS in Des Moines also uses Pulsara to communicate with the hospital teams.
"If a patient is having a heart attack on the monitor, we can take a picture of it and send it directly to the emergency room and the physician can see it,” said Lee Thomas, with West Des Moines Emergency Medical Services.
Pulsara also helps reduce time to treatment by sending patient information that normally can't be relayed over the telephone or radio from the field to the hospital so those care teams can prepare for the patient before they arrive.
“I can see (the patient’s) vital signs, so I have information on the patient before I even lay eyes on them,” said Cardiologist Dr. Dave McCallister.
