In early January, 2019, Chesapeake Regional Medical Center will become the first in its region to implement Pulsara to coordinate their time sensitive emergency communications, connecting hospital and EMS teams in real time.
According to a news release published last week, the hospital's Dr. Lewis Siegel said: "[Pulsara] will give us a head start on being prepared or getting the appropriate treatment started."
Pulsara unites all clinicians on one HIPAA-compliant communication platform from EMS through to the Emergency room and any specialists within the receiving hospital or at a transferring facility. Users simply create a patient channel, build their custom teams, and communicate via text, audio clips or video chat. No more phone trees, missed faxes or garbled radio reports. Clinicians can also send images of a patient’s drivers’ license, medication list, or anything else deemed helpful. to expedite pre-registration from the field.
Pulsara is the only regional communication network that reduces treatment times and helps clinicians reduce medical errors due to miscommunication -- an issue that causes 400,000 deaths per year on average. As the Chesapeake area implements the platform, its use will become mandatory for clinicians who work for Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, Chesapeake Fire Department, as well as Currituck, Pasquotank-Camden and Navy Regional EMS teams.
